The Opportunity

Kelsie couldn’t believe the day she was having!  First her boss acted like a complete jerk all day.  And now her boyfriend is being an asshole.  She moved to this little beachside community with him to live an easier lifestyle.  But she has supported the lifestyle and all he has done is smoke dope and drink away all their money.  He even complained when he had to pick her up from work today.  They argued and fought all the way across the Intercoastal Waterway bridge and into the next town.  She's so angry, and fed up, that she told him to pull the car over so she could get out.  He said, “Fine, bitch!  Don’t bother to come home.  All your shit will be outside when you get there!”  She got out of the car and started the 12 mile trek to their apartment ash he drove away.  She was stuck.  She couldn't call her father.  He'd say, "I told you so."  She had little money, and few friends.  So she just started walking. After a few hundred feet, she realized her error.  She was wearing khaki short-shorts and flip flops.  She was still wearing her dark green polo shirt from work...she was so mad at her boss when she left the shop that she even forgot to take her name tag off.  It was August in the Florida Panhandle.  It was also the hottest summer in the last 50 years.  Today the temperature is 95 degrees with a heat index of 115.  It was three in the afternoon, and she had 12 miles to walk.

She walked about a mile into the downtown area when she decided that she wasn’t going to make it in this heat.  She had enough money on her for a bottle of water, but the only place she could find open was a hidden little bar behind a snow cone stand.  The place was open air and had a cheesy beach motif...it little too much because the actual beach was only about 500 yards away.  The bar sat on a long, narrow back porch built onto the back of the snow cone stand.  The bar itself was in the middle of the porch.  You had to step up from the surrounding patio and walk through one line of tables to get to the serving area. Two of the three sides surrounding the porch were covered in sand, and beach toys littered the ground…keeping with the beach motif.

When Kelsie stepped up onto the porch, two men at the bar turned to look at her.  Actually they did double takes.  Kelsie is a real looker.  She is an 18 year old with long flowing light brown hair.  Her beach tanned body set on a 5’4” 120 lbs frame.  Her dark green eyes hint at mischief, but they belie the fact that she is actually a good girl.  The men know she is out of place in this joint, and they know she most likely always will be.  Her polo shirt and khaki short-shorts cannot hide her long athletic legs and firm core.  Her perky breasts are accentuated by the tight polo.  The men admiring her know this girl has to look great in a bikini….or anything else for that matter.

The only other occupant of the bar is the bartender, Jen.  Jen is dating the younger of the two men sitting at the bar.  Her late mother used to date the other man…who happens to own the place.  The owner has a bad habit of constantly comparing Jen to her mother.  This pisses Jen off to no end!  Apparently her mother was a whore...and a brawler.  The owner said no woman could take her mother.  And her mother liked to prove that by trying to take other women's men.  She’d flirt with the men then beat the crap out of the women when they complain.  She made a sport of it.

Jen watched this young girl walk onto the porch, and the guy's reaction (her boyfriend's included) wasn’t lost on her.  The girl walked up to the bar and quietly asked for a bottle of water.  Jen felt kinda sorry for her because it was obvious she was upset and hot.  Shesprayed some water from the fountain onto ice in a plastic Dixie cup and gave it to the girl.  She had to run inside to get some bottled water because the cooler was out.

Kelsie didn’t like the looks of this place.  She was scared from the moment she walked it.  But the two guys seemed friendly enough.  They smiled kindly and the young one made a comment about the heat.  He even made a slight joke out of it, which caused her to giggle out loud.  She made small talk with the two until the bartender came back with a case of bottled water.  Kelsie paid for the water and started to leave but decided to rest for a minute more and finish the cup of ice water the bartender had given her.  She looked around the bar and her gaze settled on the bartender.  She thought, “That girl is pretty…in a trashy sort of way.”  The bartender was maybe 27 years old and had pale blond hair pulled straight back in a ponytail.  She was taller than Kelsie…maybe 5’6…but a little lighter…110-115 perhaps?  Her face was skinny and she had acne scars, but they weren’t bad.  Her big light blue eyes still made her very pretty.  She had on a tight red t-shirt and cutoff blue jean shorts…cut maybe a little too short.  She had tattoos on both feet which could easily be seen because she was wearing flip flops too.

When Jen came back from the stockroom, she saw the young girl smiling and talking to her boyfriend and the bar owner.  While she was restocking, her boyfriend made sure neither girl was looking and he scribbled something on a napkin and showed it to the older man.  Jen finished, walked over to the shower head used for spraying sand off patrons feet and misted her own sweaty legs.  She walked over to her boyfriend and he grew quiet as she approached.  She filled some ice and water into a Dixie cup for herself and asked her boyfriend, “What’s up?”

Her boyfriend kinda looked away, then said, “I can’t lie to you.  That girl who just came in was flirting with me.  I told her I was seeing you, but she just laughed and gave me this.”  He handed Jen the napkin.  When she looked at it she turned dark red with rage!  The napkin said “Kelsie” and it had a phone number written on it!  Jen slowly turned and stared at the other girl.  When she did, her boyfriend looked up at the older man and winked.  The older man flashed a quick grin, and said, "Your mother would never let a hot assed little bitch like that get away with something like this.”

Kelsie wasn’t paying attention to what was going on at the other end of the bar.  She was staring at her cell phone wondering if there was anyone she could call for a ride.  She didn’t know there was trouble brewing until she was hit in the side of the head by a plastic Dixie cup.  The cup burst on impact and showered her with ice and very cold water!

Kelsie recoiled from the impact and looked to see what was happening but all she saw was the blur of blond hair and red shirt as Jen shoved her hard off the barstool she occupied.  Kelsie stumbled off the stool and fell backwards over a chair.  She landed hard on her rump and narrowly missed hitting her head on a table.  She looked around confusedly trying to figure out what was happening but nothing came to her because the blond bartender was on her in a flash.

Jen could see nothing but a red, blinding, hot fury.  She attacked the younger girl and punched her several times in the face and neck.  When the brunette would try and cover her face, Jen would slap and punch her in the side of the head, chest, and shoulders.  Jen pulled savagely at her foe’s brown hair trying to find her face to punch.  She continued this assault until both girls spilled off the porch into the hot, humid sand.

Kelsie was totally shocked!  She couldn’t believe this was happening.  Was the girl trying to rob her?  Did she say something that set her off?  Or was the blond just crazy?  She had to get this girl off of her so she could run for help!  And she had to do it fast because the bartender was in a frenzy.

Kelsie lashed out with one of her legs...and surprisingly...her now barefoot made contact with the fleshy part of Jen’s thigh.  Jen fell away in pain and Kelsie kicked her again, this time in the belly.  The blow knocked Jen back against the porch railing and momentarily knocked the wind from her.  Kelsie took this opportunity and try to flee, but her path was blocked by the two men from the bar.  The older man said, “You ain’t going nowhere missy until this here scrap is over.”  With that, Kelsie was hit in the back by what felt like a full force hurricane.

Jen saw her opponent try to escape, and she saw the men block her path.  She thought to herself, “I’m gonna make this little cunt pay for flirting with my man!  I’m gonna shove this damn napkin down her slutty little throat!”  She regained her composure and launched herself at the brunette again.  She tackled Kelsie to the ground, straddled her back, wrapped her fists in brown hair, and started pounding her victim’s face into the sand.  She released one hand and held Kelsie’s hair with the other and started punching the pretty green eyed girl in the face.

Kelsie struggled wildly to get free, but she was growing weaker blow by the blow.  Jen stood up and yanked the brunette to her feet by her hair.  She buried her fist deep into the younger girl’s flat belly.  After punching Kelsie, Jen placed one foot behind her victim...shoved her backwards...and performed a perfect leg sweep.  Kelsie felt as if the floor had fallen out from underneath her and she landed on her butt with a thud.  But  Jen still had her fist wrapped in Kelsie’s hair.  When Kelsie landed, it felt like her head had been torn completely off.  She collapsed onto her back and tried to curl up in a protective ball.  She was crying profusely now.

Jen tossed to clump of hair she had just ripped off Kelsie’s head onto the ground.  She savagely kicked the fallen girl in the stomach, side, and back…depending on which way Kelsie rolled.  When she was done, Jen straddled her victim’s chest and trapped the now beaten girl in a school girl pin.  She pinned Kelsie's  arms under her knees and slapped her viciously across both sides of her face.  She clinched her foe's chin and forced the brunette to look up at her.  Jen showed the wadded napkin to her victim and said, “You can either open wide, or I can break your jaw then shove this down your throat.”   They struggled for a minute, but Jen finally forced Kelsie’s mouth open wide.  She then violently shoved the napkin deep into the beaten girl’s mouth and slapped her several times more.  She covered Kelsie’s mouth and nose with both hands and held her down…not allowing her to breathe…until she was sure Kelsie had swallowed the napkin.

Jen stood up and grabbed her victim by the hair and slammed the back of her head brutally into the sand.  She stared the destroyed girl in the eyes and said, “Bitch, I’m not going to kill you this time, but if I ever see you near this bar, or my man again, I’ll beat you to death with my bare hands.  Now get the fuck out!”

Kelsie lay on the ground in a dazed, battered heap for several minutes before she had gathered the strength to get up and stagger from the bar.  She had lost her cell phone and her flip flops during the fight, so she didn’t make it far.  She found a Catholic Church on a back street with a recessed entryway. She staggered into the entryway and collapsed in a tearful heap.  She still didn’t understand why this happened.  All she knew is that she was alone, hurt, barefooted, penniless, and there no one who would help.  Kelsie huddled in the farthest, darkest corner and cried.

Back at the bar Jen was ecstatic!  She had successfully defended her man…just like her mom would have!  “Mom would be so proud,” she thought!  But her reverie was short lived.  He boss looked at her and said, “Congratulations on your win.  But your mom would have sat on that little bitch’s face and made her lick the sweat off her naked ass.”  Jen just looked at him a moment then looked away in disgust.  “Maybe mom wouldn’t be so proud,” she thought.

As she thought about her mother, she noticed the two men laughing.  She asked them what was so damn funny, and her boyfriend replied, “It’s funny that you fell for this hook, line and sinker!  You didn’t notice that was my handwriting on that napkin?  You really think that uppity little bitch would flirt with a guy like me?  That little pussy was scared to death when she came in here.  That’s what’s so damn funny!”

Jen was shocked!  “You two set me up?  You used that poor little girl as bait?”  Her boyfriend replied, “Yep.  We were just saying how bored we were, then little miss hot pants walked in.  We needed some entertainment.”  Jen was furious!  She called both of them every name she could think of then she tossed her work wallet on the bar.  She announced that she is quitting and "getting the hell away from you two assholes.”  She stormed from the bar as laughter echoed behind her.

Jen started walking to the apartment she shared with her soon to be ex-boyfriend.  As she was passing near the Catholic Church, she heard what sounded like sobbing coming from the entryway.  She looked closer and saw the girl she had just beat up huddled in the corner crying.  Jen approached her and said, “You poor thing.  I don’t know where to begin to tell you how sorry I am.”  Kelsie stared at her and shrank as far into the corner as she could.  Kelsie fearfully replied, “What?  You didn’t do enough damage back there, you had to come finish me?”  Jen shook her head, sat down and started crying.  She tearfully told Kelsie how they had both been set up.  She said she would never go back to those assholes as long as she lives and she doesn't even begin to know how to make this right with her.  Jen then hugged Kelsie close to her and stroked the devastated girl’s hair as she whispered how sorry she is.  After a while, Kelsie stopped shying away and gave in Jen’s embrace.

The two girls sat huddled together in the hot, humid church entryway until deep into the night.  They slept in each others’ embrace until awakened by the sound of waves crashing on the nearby shore.  They stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity.  They knew they now shared a bond and fate had somehow brought them together.  Neither would have believed in their wildest dreams that they would find their soul mate during a catfight.  Both were a little surprised when they hesitantly...but mutually...came together and shared a passionate kiss.  But both were equally pleased by the yearnings the warm kiss stirred.  As the long hot night crept on toward another bright dawn, the world didn’t seem so empty and desolate for Kelsie and Jen as it did 12 hours before…..
